BWB also successfully collaborated with Simmons & Simmons as one of its key sub-contractors when Simmons & Simmons won a place on tier 2 of the general legal services panel of the CCS framework earlier this year.
As a result of these appointments, Simmons & Simmons with BWB are amongst the very few law firms to offer external legal advice to central government bodies and enabled public bodies on highly complex transactions, finance, refinancing, capital markets, corporate transactions, projects, regulation and those involving innovative and strategically important transformational change, in addition to the more general matters for which they were appointed earlier this year.
The BWB core team comprises Melanie Carter (Head of Public & Regulatory) and Emma Dowden-Teale (Partner, Public & Regulatory), who will work with colleagues in their team and across the firm as appropriate. They have great pleasure in working with Partners at Simmons & Simmons, Charles Mayo (Chair, UK Government Group), Juliet Reingold, Richard Dyton, Helen Hancock and colleagues at Simmons & Simmons to support government and the public sector where the need for external legal advice arises.
Melanie Carter, Partner, Bates Wells Braithwaite said:
“With the future regulatory landscape increasingly uncertain due to last year’s Brexit vote, this state of affairs calls for firms who have the scale and expertise to stay ahead of whatever changes lie before us.
“Today’s news not only underlines the hard work and dedication shown by all members of our Public & Regulatory and wider BWB team in demonstrating our ability to support Simmons & Simmons’ stellar UK Government Group to fulfil this role, but also underlines how we are seen as one of the legal sector’s go-to firms for public and administrative law.
“With Simmons & Simmons’ focus on central government and our complementary focus on other public bodies, it means that between the two firms we have the capabilities to support a very wide range of public sector users of these panels.
“We are delighted at news of the appointment and look forward to working with Simmons & Simmons on these panels in due course.”
