Held by STEP, the worldwide professional association for those advising families across generations, the Awards are highly regarded as a celebration of excellence across the private client world. All entries go through a rigorous, practitioner-led judging process to select the best in the industry.
The Charity Team of the Year Award category had a strong set of finalists, with Bates Well Braithwaite beating Bircham Dyson Bell, Miller Thomson, Stone King and Withers to the prize.
The Judges said: ‘The judges felt Bates Wells Braithwaite was the outstanding firm in this category for its total commitment to all aspects of advice a charity may need. While the firm acts for a significant number of larger charities it has not overlooked the needs of smaller ones, showing fantastic insight into their needs in a very innovative way.’
Chair of the Presiding Judges John Barnett TEP, who opened the ceremony, said: ‘We were spoiled for choice, with an excellent range of entries in all categories. The Awards clearly demonstrate the great diversity and very high quality of work that STEP members do for their clients’.
Over 700 private-client professionals and guests gathered for the Awards at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, which was hosted by actor, writer and comedian Miles Jupp.
The event supported the charity Operation Smile for the first time. Donations from entrants raised GBP64,788.29 for the charity, which provides free surgery for children and young adults born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.
The evening was sponsored by Bermuda Business Development Agency, Butterfield Trust, Capital Generation Partners, Close Brothers Asset Management, Crestbridge, Ed, Intertrust, JTC, Katten Muchin Rosenman, Maitland, RBC Wealth Management, Saffery Champness Registered Fiduciaries, Smith & Williamson Investment Management, Tilney for Professionals, and Virtus Trust, an Equiom Company.
