New appointment strengthens Bates Wells Compliance

Bates Wells Compliance has appointed Mark Wolff to its team of regulatory consultants. In his new role, Mark will assist clients on matters relating to investment management and corporate finance from the team’s London offices.

Mark has over ten years of experience in the financial services sector, having previously worked for hedge fund Platinum Capital Management and, most recently, for the boutique SME investment management and corporate finance advisory house, Lesmoir-Gordon Boyle & Co (LGB), where he was Compliance Officer and Head of Operations.

Mark brings a wealth of industry experience which he combines with a detailed understanding of financial services regulation. Prior to working for these organisations, Mark was involved in the establishment of Inventive Capital Advisors LLP, where he worked with large institutions to establish corporate venturing activities. He also worked in a number of other research and operations roles.

His arrival occurs at a time of sustained growth in headcount on the part of the team and the wider firm, which recently hired Anna Seligman and Richard Cross from the FCA and Bovills respectively to join its team of consultants.

Gillian Roche Saunders, Partner and Head of BWB Compliance, said:

“Since launch, I and the rest of my team have sought to build up the broader capabilities of BWB Compliance so that we can respond to the hugely significant regulatory changes that lie ahead.

“Mark understands the demands on compliance officers, COOs, FDs and his arrival means that we are now even better placed to provide our clients with what they need, in an era when significant regulatory changes like PRIIPs and MiFID II will forever change the way in which business is done.”

Mark Wolff, Consultant, said:

“For me, what stands out most is how Gillian’s team combines wide-ranging industry knowledge with the nimble entrepreneurial skills that organisations need to survive and thrive in today’s market.

“This is an exciting but daunting time for the entire sector, and I look forward to working with a team which is ideally placed to help clients navigate the current climate of commercial uncertainty.”
