Lexis Nexis: Chetal Patel comments on removal of NHS workers from Tier 2 visa cap

Chetal Patel, Partner in BWB’s Immigration department has provided commentary for a Lexis Nexis article examining the Home Office’s plans to exclude doctors and nurses from the cap on skilled worker visas.

If NHS workers are removed from the Tier 2 visa cap, this means that there will be no restriction on the number of doctors and nurses who can be employed through the Tier 2 visa route. 

In the article, Chetal comments that the move is certainly a ‘step in the right direction’ as it will create more space in the skilled worker migrants’ cap for other occupations. Chetal also adds that it will be interesting to see, with the advent of Brexit, if this change in policy will lead to concessions in immigration rules for other sectors.
