New Charity Commission guidance: charity trade press quotes Simon Steeden

Simon Steeden’s insights regarding new Charity Commission guidance on the relationship between charities and non-charities have been covered by Civil Society, Third Sector (£) and UK Fundraising.

Responding to the regulator’s announcement Simon praised the “model” consultation process, saying that “…the two case officers leading the consultation really listened to extensive feedback from the sector and sought to understand the diversity and complexity of the charities affected. I would urge the Commission to adopt this for other advice and guidance – it contrasts sharply with the issuance of the recent regulatory alert for charitable think tanks, for example.”

However Simon also sounded a note of caution about the Commission’s guidance. While the Commission “has removed many of the most unworkable aspects of the original draft”, several parts of the guidance in Simon’s view are “impractical”.
