DCMS publishes template legal documents for new mutuals, in partnership with Bates Wells

Bates Wells was delighted to draft a new suite of template legal documents and guidance.

Following its latest application window for a new round of funding on its Mutuals Support Programme, the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has published a new suite of template legal documents and guidance for spin-outs from the public sector. Bates Wells was delighted to support DCMS with this project.

Together with DCMS, we consulted with stakeholders from across the sector to create a picture of the most ‘usual’ spin-out scenario. Using the examples and insights we gathered, as well as our longstanding experience of the sector, we considered the common pitfalls in spinning out as well as great examples of best practice, and drafted the documents according to a series of ‘assumptions’ drawn from this knowledge.

While bespoke legal advice is crucial on every spin-out, we hope that the resulting templates will serve as a cost effective starting point for future projects saving time and valuable resource.

If you are considering a spin-out and would like some more advice, please do not hesitate to contact us.
