Bates Wells’ M&A team advises Aggregate Industries on its acquisition of Maxi Readymix Concrete

Bates Wells’ M&A team acted for Aggregate Industries UK Limited (“Aggregate Industries”) on its acquisition of Maxi Readymix Concrete Limited (“Maxi Readymix”).

Aggregate Industries, a member of LafargeHolcim, is a leading manufacturer and supplier of aggregates, asphalt, cement and ready-mixed concrete with revenues of £1.29 billion for the financial year ending 31 December 2018.  Maxi Readymix is a leading independent readymix concrete business in Leicestershire and the surrounding areas.

Commenting on the acquisition, Guy Edwards, CEO of Aggregate Industries, said: “We have been very impressed by the Maxi Readymix Concrete Limited team and are delighted to welcome them to the Aggregate Industries family. Utilising their experience in the construction sector and their strong focus on customer service, we will be able to assist the business with its future growth plans, complementing our own existing activities. This acquisition will strengthen our position in the Midlands market and will support our ambition of remaining the supplier of choice for our customers.”

Phillip Norah, General Counsel of Aggregate Industries, said: “We needed to move quickly to execute on this strategic opportunity and Bates Wells showed their ability to provide the multi-disciplinary support we needed at very short notice. Their experience in the construction materials sector and pragmatic approach to the deal meant that we were able to conclude negotiations and welcome Maxi Readymix Concrete into our wider business to some very tight timescales.”

This transaction is Bates Wells’ first for Aggregate Industries and demonstrates our M&A expertise and our growing client base in the construction materials sector.

Bates Wells’ corporate team was led by Mark Tasker (Partner and head of Corporate and Commercial department) and Stephen Callender (Partner) supported by Matthew Gearing (Senior Associate).
