With relatively high levels of non-EEA nationals working in the care sector, it is easy to see why UKBA is targeting care homes, often co-ordinating enforcement visits with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and local authority or PCT commissioners.
This seminar will remind those operating in the care sector of their obligations as employers of overseas workers and provide a summary of the recent changes to the immigration system. Additionally, delegates will be given practical tips on how to prepare for a UKBA enforcement visit and how to manage unannounced visits.
Stuart Marchant, Partner, will introduce the event and highlight the growing trend of enforcement activity in the care sector and how the CQC are acting on breaches of staffing regulations following enforcement visits to prosecute, suspend or cancel licences.
Ben Maitland will provide a summary of the recent changes to the immigration system, including a reflection on the recent High Court appeal which held the interim limits had been introduced unlawfully and the Government’s response.
Chris Randall, a Senior Associate and also part time Immigration Judge, will summarise the key duties placed upon employers by immigration legislation.
Finally, Philip Trott, Partner and Head of the Immigration Department, will provide care home owners with practical tips on how to prepare for UKBA enforcement visits and also how to ensure any enforcement visit is managed appropriately.
