BWB invites you to a free seminar where we will provide a varied programme, which will include tackling issues that have been troubling our clients during this economic downturn in relation to their legacy income as well as an update on developments in the charity legacy world. We are also delighted to welcome guest speakers Meg Abdy from leading legacy sector analysts Legacy Foresight and Colin Kemp, Head of Legacies at Christian Aid.
Speakers from BWB will include Laura Soley and Eva Abeles from the firm’s Charity & Social Enterprise Department as well as Robert Oakley and Leticia Jennings from BWB’s Dispute Resolution Department.
Laura Soley and Eva Abeles will cover latest legal developments which affect charity legacies including an inheritance tax focus looking at the reduced rate of inheritance tax where a donor leaves 10% of their net estate to charity and cross-border giving as well as other current issues such as refusing legacies following recent press articles and where we are with lifetime legacies.
Robert Oakley and Leticia Jennings will look at practical steps you can take to protect your charity’s interest under a Will, including obtaining information from executors and concerns over executors’ fees.
Meg Abdy from leading legacy sector analysts Legacy Foresight will share her thoughts on “What do the latest trends in legacy income tell us about future opportunities – and challenges - in legacy marketing?”
Colin Kemp, Head of Legacies at Christian Aid will talk about an exciting new possibility for giving on death - “Pensions – the new ‘legacy’ source?” - looking at the implications and opportunities for charities in relation to pension giving following changes in legislation enabling people to donate their pension funds to charity on death.
