Launch of ‘Protecting data, protecting people: A guide for charities’

BWB is delighted to host the launch of the CFG’s new data protection guide, written in collaboration with BWB’s Mairead O’Reilly.Data protection is a hugely challenging area of law to negotiate, but it is crucial that charities get the basics right both for reputational, ethical and financial reasons. Recently we saw the first charity fined £70,000 for breaching the Data Protection Act, and instances of warnings from the ICO to charities have been on the increase. We know that compliance with the law is an area of concern for charities. You are invited to attend the launch of our new good practice guide on data protection, which we hope will give you the tools you need to understand this complex issue. The guide was produced by Charity Finance Group and includes a range of case studies from our charity members and technical input from a range of experts and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). We hope the guide will help your organisation get the basics of data protection right.
