Regulating Finance for a Greener Future

BWB Compliance will be hosting an evening discussion on 26 November to explore the FCA’s latest work on climate change and green finance. Aided by our industry speakers, we will be exploring how the regulators can ensure our financial systems are fit for the future.

Dates & Times

November 26, 2018 @ 12:00 am

The evening will be of interest to anyone interested in Green Finance and in addition will provide useful food for thought to anyone who wishes to respond to the FCA’s discussion paper.

During the evening we’ll hope to touch on questions including:

  • What are the regulatory barriers to growth of green financial services in the UK?
  • How could the FCA work better with industry to meet investor demand for green investment opportunities?
  • Do we think that firms reporting publicly on climate risks would be valuable? If so, how could this work best?

The also may be some time to venture into wider regulatory territory, looking at recent action proposed by the PRA on banks and progress on the raft of proposals that came out of the EC’s Action Plan on Sustainable Finance.

Hosting the evening will be Gillian Roche Saunders and Rebecca Claydon from BWB Compliance.

We’re delighted to be joined by some additional voices, each of whom are deeply involved in the field of green and sustainable finance, and have agreed to share some thoughts to help frame our discussion:

Bruce Davis - Co-Founder and joint MD at Abundance, an investment platform creating ways for people to invest in green and social infrastructure. Bruce was recently appointed to the government Taskforce for Green Finance and regularly engages with government on financial and environmental policy.

Julia Dreblow – Founder of SRI Services and, Julia has longstanding passion for and experience specialising in retail, sustainable, responsible and ethical investment.

Anna Laycock - Executive Director at the Finance Innovation Lab, a charity working for a financial system that serves people and planet. Anna is a collaborative leader, systems thinker and expert speaker, and leads the work of the Lab, who recently published ‘The Regulatory Compass’, a report on the future of regulation.

We expect this event to be popular, so don’t hesitate to reserve your place.
