Event Summary

Bates Wells Braithwaite is hosting the Charities Facilities Management group's latest seminar on legal issues, negotiations and good practice relating to property, leases and services charges.

Whether your charity is a tenant or a landlord - or both - it is important to get the best deal for your organisation. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has just issued a new edition of its Code of Practice on Service Charges. We will hear from the author about the key points and how you can apply them in practical ways.
Experts at Bates Wells Braithwaite will also outline how to approach your lease negotations and how to aim for improvements in your terms.

The seminar will cover:

Getting the Best from your Service Charges

  • An introduction to the RICS Code on Service Charges
  • What information should you expect to receive from your landlord, and when
  • What the Code recommends in accounting for service charges
  • What should the information include? How should it be set out?
  • What are the opportunities to improve terms of your existing leases?
  • How to use the Code in negotiations

Speaker: Peter Forrester FRICS, director of Service Charge Consultancy - Savills and author of the RICS Code of Practice on Service Charges

Leases - Key Points for Negotiation

  • Key lease terms to improve the terms of occupation -- including:
  • break rights,
