This is a challenging time for charities trying to review and ensure data protection compliance in fundraising activities. This seminar will examine charities’ data protection obligations when fundraising, in light of recent controversy and legal uncertainty about fundraising practices and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) decision to issue fines to two charities for breach of the Data Protection Act 1998.
Whether you are a new charity starting out or a longstanding charity with well-established fundraising policies and practices, this seminar will provide you with the essential information you need to ensure that you do not fall foul of the data protection issues raised in the ICO’s recent decisions.
This session will look at the following aspects of fundraising:
- Data sharing
- Wealth screening
- Data matching
- General issues around consent
The session will end with a supplementary discussion of the Fundraising Regulator’s new guidance on the Fundraising Preference Service.
