Getting to Grips with the GDPR
Our new Getting to Grips with the GDPR seminar series tackles the key issues under the GDPR, with practical tips on making it work for your organisation.
This first seminar will be a hands-on and interactive session designed to help your organisation get to grips with dealing with the rights of individuals.
GDPR has introduced new rights and strengthened existing rights in relation to how and when personal data is used by organisations. Navigating these rights and responding appropriately can be tricky, especially in light of the much higher fines that the Information Commissioner’s Office can levy under GDPR for getting it wrong, and the increased awareness of members of the public and employees about their privacy rights.
In this seminar, we'll provide updates on the law in relation to individuals’ rights, including the right of access to data and the right of erasure, as well as relevant guidance from the ICO and European data protection bodies on these topics. We'll also include practical tips and interactive case studies on how you should deal with the exercise of individuals’ rights in practice, including in relation to requests from employees, supporters, customers and members of the public.
This seminar will include:
- An update on case law and guidance relating to individuals’ rights
- An opportunity to ask questions and discuss key issues with BWB lawyers and other attendees
- Case study on how to respond to a subject access request from an employee
- Case study on managing other individuals’ rights under GDPR.
Who should attend?
This event is focused at senior members of staff who have responsibility for and experience of data protection compliance within their organisation, including data protection officers and managers and senior HR advisors.
Early booking is recommended. Book all three seminars together and get a 10% discount.
