When staff and volunteers notice or suspect wrongdoing, it’s important that they’re able to speak up safely. Whistleblowing is a critical part of upholding the values of the sector, however charities don’t always get it right when dealing with such concerns.

Co-hosted with Protect, the UK’s leading whistleblowing charity, our breakfast seminar is a unique opportunity to hear first-hand from the organisation that runs the Charity Commission’s whistleblowing advice line about things that charities are getting wrong, coupled with Bates Wells’ expertise in the legal responsibilities of charities.  We will cover, amongst other topics, allegations of misuse of charitable money, Serious Incident Reporting, the role of the board of trustees, conflict of interest and using appropriate – and proportionate – procedures. The session will identify 10 key areas where charities could improve their whistleblowing procedure,  working through a case study that develops those themes in a practical context.

Attendees will gain a real insight into how to handle whistleblowing better with practical, actionable steps to take forward.

The seminar is well suited for anyone working in a charity that regularly deals with whistleblowing. Whilst this event is complimentary, spaces are limited, so if you would like to attend, please email [email protected]
