Bates Wells Braithwaite (BWB) has appointed Murdoch Currie as a partner to its growing Corporate & Commercial team. The appointment expands the firm’s AIM practice and strengthens capabilities in transactional work.
Murdoch’s arrival at the firm increases BWB’s corporate and commercial partner headcount to six, and is the latest in a series of milestones in recent months that mark the expansion of the firm’s partnership. He brings to BWB over 25 years of experience as a corporate lawyer, having also previously worked for 17 years as a partner in BLP’s corporate practice group.
This appointment follows April’s announcement that BWB has made five of its senior associates up as partners - the largest single round of partner promotions in the firm’s history.
In his role Murdoch will continue to advise on corporate transactions in a variety of areas and sectors, including Financial Services, technology and Real Estate, and will also further strengthen BWB’s M&A and equity capital markets credentials.
Following the appointment, Martin Bunch, managing partner, said:
“Aside from the experience he brings to the team, what has struck me most about Murdoch is the extent to which his outlook is aligned with the values that form the basis of our 2020 strategy.
“We are delighted to announce Murdoch’s appointment and look forward to working with him.”
“For me the firm’s entrepreneurial ethos, combined with its commitment to work for sustainable socially-responsible businesses, played a major role in my decision to make the move to BWB.
“I’m really pleased to be joining at such an exciting time for the firm.”
