BWB recognises the benefits of having a dedicated forum within the firm to assist it in developing proposals and policies which further drive diversity and inclusion within the firm. The partners wish to ensure that the firm is representative and alive to the many aspects of diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
Our Equal Opportunities, Equality and Diversity Policy and Dignity at Work outline our commitment as a firm to these principles and it is important that we fulfil this commitment in the way we conduct ourselves in work and in our interactions with people outside the firm.
A Diversity and Inclusion Forum (DIF) comprising individuals within the firm has been established to take an active interest in participating in the debate.
BWB’s commitment to equal opportunities and diversity is also highlighted by our pledge to the Law Society’s Diversity and Inclusion Charter.
We are proud members of the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei), the UK’s leading employer network covering all aspects of equality and inclusion issues in the workplace.
Staff Health and Welfare
Staff health and wellbeing is a high priority for the firm. BWB promotes this by operating a cycle to work scheme and giving free access to cycle storage and changing facilities, offering access to a number of gyms as well as a variety of exercise classes and providing access to complementary therapies such as reflexology. BWB also hold two Wellbeing Weeks each year, providing staff with access to nurses and nutritionists to discuss health issues, exercise and healthy eating.
BWB also supports our staff netball team and football team and have signed up to the Santander Cycle Hire Scheme so that staff can use bikes to attend meetings and events.
BWB aims to engage staff in its CR activities via regular communication including our monthly firm newsletter, BWBNews.
An employee round-table forum has been created to ensure there is sufficient discussion amongst the partnership and staff to facilitate:
- Two way discussion about the strategy and direction of the firm
- Dialogue about proposals or ideas being considered by the partnership to gather views and suggestions
- Raising and representing employee views and suggestions at forum meetings
- Greater participation in decision making amongst staff
This will include discussion of CR initiatives.
We are an accredited Living Wage Employer, supporting London Citizens’ Living Wage Campaign to ensure that all our staff, including contractors such as our cleaners, receive a living wage and other guaranteed minimum working conditions.
Access to Careers in the Legal Profession
To encourage wider access to the legal profession, we offer work experience placements to a range of schools.
