I am a Paralegal in the Charity and Social Enterprise department and I have been supporting the team on various aspects of the work relating to the charity and social enterprise sector. I also support the data protection team with data protection work where required and have been on secondment to one of the firm’s key clients for data protection matters.

I have a particular interest in Muslim charities and International NGOs and I co-ordinate the Muslim charities sub-focus group and the International NGOs sector group. In addition to assisting charities within these sectors, I also regularly join senior fee-earners at events and conferences and assist with hosting client-focused events at Bates Wells.

Aside from work, I am keen on expanding the work that Bates Wells does in the area of social mobility and I am a DIF ambassador and lead coordinator of the Outreach programmes and I oversee the various schemes that Bates Wells holds for students.

  • I assist with the incorporation and registration of charities including drafting constitutional documents and applications to the Charity Commission and HMRC;
  • I have assisted with constitutional reform and large scale charity restructures based in the UK;
  • I represent Bates Wells at board meetings;
  • I have worked on drafting initial pieces of advice on particular areas of Charity law;
  • I often conduct legal research into specialist areas of law; and
  • I assist clients with Charity Commission inquiries and on-going disputes.
