Experience

I am a paralegal in the Charity department with particular experience in education and safeguarding related matters.

I have worked with large international charities and also smaller local schools as well as other organisations looking to fund charitable projects. I have a particular interest in supporting educational charities and those that work with young people.

Recent projects

  • Assisting with the expansion of a multi-academy trust

I have been involved in the transfer of an academy into a multi-academy trust, arranging due diligence, preparing documentation for signing and correspondence to the Department for Education, as well as finalising the post-completion documents. I also have provided a clerking service to the multi-academy trust, attending and minuting meetings, organising register filings and ensuring governance arrangements are in order.

  • Involved in the international restructure of a large religious charity

An internationally based charity is setting up linked charitable entities across Europe, America and Africa. I regularly liaise with international lawyers about the structure of these entities and the way in which the operations will link with the head charity.

  • Assisting with the set up of two separate foundations formed by private clients

As grant making foundations, I have prepared grant making policies for the foundations, which will operate both within and outside the UK.

  • Drafting charity applications for international charities, educational charities and grant making charities
  • Drafting and reviewing safeguarding policies for educational charities and charities supporting young people
  • Assisting on high level safeguarding matters including for schools, international charities and non-governmental organisations
  • Drafting governance documents for charities of all incorporated structures
