The answers to some governance problems can’t be found in law books. They need organisational development and training and the implementation of good leadership and governance practice.
At Onboard, we highlight the importance of people and relationships, framed by a strong legal framework, sound structure and processes.
What are the challenges you’re facing? Rapid growth? Regulatory change? Increasing expectations coupled with budgetary cuts? Our governance insights will provide a clear view or a framework to find the right answers.
How we help
Drawing together leading third sector consultants with legal experts from Bates Wells, we are dedicated to delivering support that is down-to-earth, reliable and jargon-free.
We offer a menu of services – from performance management, strategic reviews, coaching and mentoring support to governance reviews, board assessments, skills audits, mediation and conflict resolution.
Our approach is enabling and facilitative. We create a climate where participants feel involved, engaged, respected and safe. We help board members to engage with their mission and remember that the role can be rewarding and fun.
We encourage individuals and boards to collectively strive for high performance while bringing their best selves to the organisations they govern, to better deliver the vision of the organisation and to make a positive impact on society.
Onboard is a programme which is at the cutting edge of leadership and governance development. Our board has benefitted from being kept up to date.
Onboard enabled us to apply governance principles in a pragmatic way. We are a stronger board as a result of our governance development
As a board we struggled with applying diversity through a governance lens. We are now able to see how diversity is a route to stronger governance and more robust leadership.
We came to an Onboard event and had so much fun while learning. The lessons we picked up have stuck because of the environment Onboard created for us to hear experts and also to share with each other.
The focus on people issues linked to governance concept has ensured that our board is better able to balance people, process, procedures and results to achieve better outcomes.
We have been working with Tesse Akpeki, Lead Onboard Consultant on our Governance Review for a six to nine month period. This was the first time our Institute had been "externally audited" in this way and we were delighted with the outcome. Our whole board found it very helpful to have a view from such an expert as Tesse and the way she advised us on 'best practice' was invaluable. It has been a great pleasure working with Tesse during that time; her individual 'style' brought the best out of all members of our board during interview stage, and the final delivery of the review before the entire board was indeed to see a "tour de force" in action.
