In memory of former Senior Partner, Stephen Lloyd, BWB Foundation established the Stephen Lloyd Awards in 2015. The Awards reflects Stephen's commitment to innovation in tackling social issues by encouraging and supporting the development of practical, sustainable ways of achieving social change.

Over its first three years of operation, the Awards has provided £140,000 of grant funding to seven winning organisations and almost £60,000 in grants to 30 shortlisted organisations. Winning applicant(s) receive significant pro bono commitment, plus funding of up to £20,000. Shortlisted applicants are also awarded up to £2,000 to further develop their idea, and also benefit from similar pro bono expertise.

With the involvement of over 50 individual and institutional experts across the charity and social enterprise sector, valuable pro bono and financial assistance has enabled some amazing projects to gain access to support (moral and technical), allowing them to take several steps closer to delivering their promise.

Phillip Kirkpatrick, Deputy Managing Partner at BWB and one of the founding members of the Stephen Lloyd Awards Committee, said:

“These awards are about recognising and supporting social innovators; the individuals and organisations who use their skills and technical knowledge to address social problems, often in novel ways. The Awards bring together an amazing community of experts committed to helping innovative projects get off the ground and deliver sustainable, systemic social change. “

Applications for the next round will open in February 2018. Ideas are welcome in many forms, as a start-up enterprise, or an extension of an organisation’s existing work; a piece of lobbying work or a high profile campaign.
