Senior Associate


Louise acts mainly for commercial, social enterprise and charity employer clients. She advises in relation to all aspects of the employment relationship from recruitment to termination and beyond.

Louise has particular experience of advising businesses in relation to restructures and redundancy; TUPE issues relating to service provision changes, and business acquisitions and disposals; and large-scale consultation exercises. She also has extensive experience of advising on general employee-related issues such as statutory and contractual rights and obligations, disciplinary and grievance processes, managing employee exits and in successfully defending employment-related litigation.

  • Advising a housing group on handling complex grievance and capability issues relating to an underperforming senior employee
  • Advising a social care provider in relation to implementing substantial changes to its staff pension arrangements and terms of employment across its workforce
  • Advising a college on a complex consultation exercise involving restructure/collective redundancies and a TUPE transfer
  • Advising a national disability charity on undertaking pre-transfer collective redundancy consultation relating to its merger with another organisation
  • Advising start-up organisations on employment documentation
  • Advising a social development company on exiting a very senior employee, negotiating terms of departure and drafting associated contractual documentation
  • Advising on the employment issues arising from the ‘spin out’ to the private sector of a number of council services, often involving large numbers of transferring employees
  • Drafting complex employment-related documentation
  • Advising overseas employers engaging individuals working in the UK and UK employers engaging individuals to work overseas
  • Advising an international charity in relation to staff transfer issues involving multiple overseas jurisdictions
  • Conducting complex employment tribunal proceedings including successfully defending a large healthcare provider at a multi-day tribunal hearing against allegations of whistleblowing, unfair dismissal, and race, sexual orientation and disability discrimination
  • Advising a commercial employer on drafting and enforcement of contractual documentation to protect its business interests
