AI

Artificial intelligence is developing at a rapid rate. A recent explosion in innovation has meant AI has become more popular and powerful. Purposeful businesses both developing or deploying AI are considering both the benefits and risks that this brings.

We help clients to understand the ever-changing legal requirements and landscape surrounding AI and ethical AI. We have briefed MPs and Peers and advised on, and drafted amendments to, the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill to strengthen individuals’ rights in relation to AI technologies.

Members of our team have recently advised a public body on the risks associated with deploying AI in a research project. We have also advised on a number of AI projects including the use of facial recognition technology in schools, deploying facial recognition technology to identify and register members of a profession, and on a high-profile case relating to the unlawful use of automated decision-making in an employment context.

How we can help

Whether you’re a business or charity currently developing an AI solution, or looking to integrate an existing AI product within your business, we can help you to address the risks, opportunities, and legal and regulatory obligations you need to be aware of. We will provide pragmatic, tailored and strategic advice, from commercial contracts and employment to data privacy and dispute resolution. We will also provide any relevant ethical considerations, to review the impact AI will have on your employees, the environment and the wider community.
