RISE
RISE focuses on the twin topics of racism and anti-racism and leads the way in educating and promoting allyship firmwide through in-house guides, videos and talks.
We believe in creating safe spaces so that all of our people can better share, learn and understand the experiences of our Black associates. RISE recently launched an Upward Mentoring scheme where our Black and ethnic minority colleagues mentor our senior leadership and we will work to keep these and wider dialogues flowing.
RISE with support from REACH runs our Black History Month programmes aimed at delivering a full programme of events. Whether we are discussing the symbols of colonisation and wider racism in the art world, Mental Health in an Unequal World or a Black History Month-focused spin on our more regular art sessions and book club, all accompanied by a RISE-authored guide to the month.
REACH and RISE also collaborate on promoting initiatives such as the Race at work Charter which we signed up to in September 2020 and the Halo Code agreement. We adopted the Halo Code in January 2021 becoming the first law firm to do so, and proactively taking a stand to ensure that no member of our community faces barriers or judgement because of their Afro-textured hair. We are proud that our people are a part of a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on their ability to succeed.
