Bates Wells advises Research Views Limited and its shareholders

Bates Wells advises Research Views Limited (formerly GlobalData Ltd), and its shareholders on the international pre-sale reorganisation and subsequent £67m sale of the GlobalData healthcare business and simultaneous acquisition of a print business.

Transaction: Bates Wells’ cross departmental team acted for Research Views Limited (“Research Views”), a research and consulting services provider in the healthcare and energy sectors and its shareholders on: the international reorganisation of the then GlobalData group of companies; the sale of GlobalData’s healthcare business to Progressive Digital Media Group Plc (“PDM”) (an AIM listed media company; now named GlobalData plc), for circa £67m; and the acquisition of PDM’s print business by Research Views for £4.5m. This transaction was a related party transaction involving the same majority shareholder on both the buy and sale side.

These transactions complete the transformation of GlobalData plc into a leading provider of business information operating in three business information verticals and will significantly extend the company’s global reach in major business information markets.

The print business acquired by Research Views provides marketing, advertising and online solutions to a wide number of clients operating in a number of sectors, such as automotive, oil & gas and hospitality.
