During the coronavirus pandemic our team have been assisting clients with issues such as if they have made offers of employment to candidates based outside of the UK.

In such cases, the candidates were in the process of submitting their visa applications when the pandemic began to affect in the UK and many countries abroad. As application centres abroad are closed and have been since around the end of March, the visa applications haven’t been processed and this has been affecting our clients’ recruitment plans.

In order to avoid further disruption, we have advised the client on the candidates commencing work remotely (where possible), as well as advising from an employment perspective to change the contractual relationship so that company engage the candidates on a self-employed contractor/consultancy basis whilst abroad, rather than employing them.
