Breakfast Serial 2016: Essential Trustee

This session will provide an introduction to the six main duties of being a charity trustee. It will focus in particular on:

  • The Charity Commission’s updated guidance, The Essential Trustee (CC3)
  • Understanding and applying your duties to be more effective
  • Tips for trustees – learning from common mistakes

The session will be presented jointly by Neal Green, Senior Policy Advisor at the Charity Commission, and Leona Roche, a Senior Associate in our Charity and Social Enterprise department. Neal was instrumental in the updated version of the Essential Trustee that was published by the Charity Commission in July 2015, so we are delighted to have him with us.

Why choose this course/seminar?

Trustees are increasingly in the spotlight for their governance and management of charities, especially where there has been a suspected failure on the part of trustees to comply with their basic legal duties. In this environment of greater scrutiny, it is vital that all charity trustees are aware of and understand their duties. This session should help trustees feel confident that they are complying with their key legal duties.

Who should attend?

Anyone who is thinking of becoming a charity trustee or is new to the role, or for existing trustees who want a better understanding of their role.
