Bates Wells is excited to welcome the arrival of data protection expert Eleonor Duhs, who is joining the firm as partner and head of Data Privacy

Eleonor joins Bates Wells from Fieldfisher, where, as a director and barrister, she advised on the full spectrum of data protection compliance.  Eleonor’s clients include public bodies and regulators, social media companies, international organisations, and UK business ranging from start-ups to large multinationals.

Eleonor is also a leading expert on the post-Brexit legal and regulatory landscape. She worked as a senior lawyer for the Department for Exiting the European Union, where she led on the core provisions of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018. She has co-authored a leading text on the UK’s post-Brexit legislative framework:  Retained EU law – a practical guide, published by the Law Society.  Her work is informed by several years in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Ministry of Justice.

Eleonor will lead a growing Data Privacy team with sector-leading expertise in advising purposeful businesses, charities and public bodies.
