I am a solicitor in the Public & Regulatory team. I advise on the full range of public law issues clients bring to us, both contentious and advisory. I work with public bodies, local authority-maintained schools, regulators, charities, awarding organisations and private sector bodies and individuals. I have previous experience working with large healthcare regulators, as well as training in civil litigation representing legal aid clients.
I have experience representing Interested Persons in complex inquest proceedings, including organisations with hybrid public/private functions. I act for clients in high-profile public inquiries and have successfully sought Core Participant status to assist the Chair by providing institutional knowledge and expertise of the care sector.
I have experience in the education sector including defending claims in the First-Tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability), representing schools and academies in relation to complaints against non-ministerial departments, and assisting individuals and awarding organisations in the higher education sector. I have a particular interest in public law, equalities and regulatory issues as they relate to young people in a variety of contexts.
- Representing a senior executive in connection with the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry. I am currently instructed by a senior executive of Post Office Limited to assist him in preparing his witness statement and to appear and give in person evidence to the Inquiry.
- Acting for an organisation in respect of its functions as a sole charity trustee of an ancient registered charitable trust in multi-organisation inquest proceedings. I am currently instructed in ongoing inquest proceedings with multiple interested persons. The client has a complex and historical organisational background requiring expert and cross-departmental representation of their legal status and objectives.
- Representing a local-authority maintained school in the First-Tier Tribunal (SEND). I am currently instructed to defend a school in respect of allegations under the Equality Act 2010, successfully applying to strike out unmeritorious elements of the claim at the outset.
