As part of our specialist politics, elections and campaigning team, I help charities and other non-party campaigners effectively engage in campaigning work within the framework of election law and charity law.
I also work as part of our broader charity and social enterprise team, undertaking a wide range of general charity law work, including regulatory engagement, governance support and grant funding.
- Advised a leading charity on the content of an advertisement highlighting the experience of blind and partially sighted voters to ensure it complied with relevant election law.
- Advised a political party on electoral finance and party governance – specifically election law and tax consequences relating to legacy fundraising and a legacy endowment fund as well as providing specific fundraising advice during their general election campaign.
- Advised a political activism group on its internal infrastructure regarding the development and implementation of their election strategy and compliance systems, including advice on national and local election campaigning rules and lobbying regulation to their campaign activities and stunts.
- Provided bespoke internal training on navigating election laws to a non-profits and helped them to build capacity across the sector on charity and non-party campaigning law through a series of workshops and materials.
- Advised a Dutch non-profit on working with a wide range of environmental campaigners ahead of the General Election.
- Advised a major trade union on the application of the non-party campaigning rules and on deregulated spending.
