I’m also the joint lead on our counter-fraud work. So, I advise charities, social enterprises and businesses on how to prevent fraud, and what to do if someone does take their money or data.
I’m particularly interested in equality and anti-discrimination law, and I lead on the work we’re doing to improve gender equality at Bates Wells.
When a small business found out that one of its directors had been taking its money for himself, I advised them on their plan of action for investigating and reporting the fraud and recovering their funds. I also advised them on what to do to make sure they wouldn’t fall victim like this again.
My client, a trade membership body, licences its members to use its marks so customers know they’ll be getting a high quality service. When they discovered that someone else was using its marks to pretend they were a member, we took action to have the infringing marks removed and obtained a judgment from the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court to prevent the serial infringer from striking again.
Our client, a single sex young people’s charity, is committed to including transgender children.
