A new Elections Bill is set to introduce changes to non-party campaigning rules, introducing a new ‘lower-tier’ registration threshold and new controls on overseas spending and transparency. This autumn’s party conference season could be the last before the parties produce their campaign manifestos for the next general election. And political turbulence is leading some to suggest that an election may be on the cards sooner than expected.
