During autumn 2024 Bates Wells helped the Sea Ranger Service agree a new partnership with The Crown Estate, and the first project is now underway. The Crown Estate has deployed Sea Ranger, which are young maritime trainees, to carry out wildlife monitoring in the Celtic Sea as part of a multi-year surveying programme in support of floating offshore wind development.
Bates Wells Partner Oliver Hunt said “We were delighted to help the Sea Ranger Service on their first UK assignment, partnering with the Crown Estate. Sea Ranger Service inspiring work produces a fantastic combination of social and environmental impact.”
Sea Ranger Service CEO Wietse van der Werf said: “It was a pleasure to work with the team at Bates Wells on our first UK assignment. Having started our work in Europe, the UK is a key expansion for us, and we hope to carry out many more projects here.”
