I am first and foremost an immigration problem solver. I work to establish rights of residence in the UK for individuals, couples and families, even in the most challenging of circumstances, and often in the face of a refusal culture. To find solutions I often collaborate with other practitioners, particularly from the worlds of family law and criminal law.
I have nearly three decades of experience of working with a truly diverse client base. I make it my job to deliver positive outcomes whether dealing with creatives, refugees, LGBT+ applicants, vulnerable adults, children, or high net worth individuals.
I am also lucky to work in a firm which has the right resources, and with colleagues whose expertise can meet the variety of the challenges that our caseloads present.
- Assisted an elderly US national now in a care home in the UK to reside here permanently given her frailty and dependency upon UK based adult children.
- Advised a client on discreetly managing an application for UK residency, while carefully handling the logistics of in-country applications during frequent travel.
- Advocated for the client’s independent visa in a high net worth divorce case, countering opposing counsel’s attempt to leverage her immigration status to force an unfair settlement.
- Supported a wealthy Ethiopian national on her ILR application, navigating complications due to her international lifestyle and limited time spent in the UK before grant.
- Advised a high-net-worth Iranian family on pursuing naturalisation for citizenship, despite challenges posed by significant absences from the UK.
- Successfully pursued an Article 8 private and family life appeal for a UK-based family, following a personal tragedy.
- Advised with an entry clearance for a previously at-risk academic and her children in the Middle East who is now employed at a leading London college.
- Succeeded at appeal in securing family reunion between a UK based sister and her young Afghan brother.
- Assisted a young gay man from a Gulf State to secure indefinite leave to remain in the UK following his being subjected to sustained domestic abuse by his former UK partner.
- Advised a wealthy high-profile couple on a UK partner visa application, navigating complexities of frequent travel between the two jurisdictions and helping to document their long-distance relationship and sufficient assets for a smooth application.
- Advised a gay Indian national on his civil partnership with a British partner, liaising with the Home Office to retrieve documents and ensure that the partnership could be registered, thereafter securing permission to stay on the basis of the civil partnership.
- Successfully challenged the attempt by the Home Office to deprive a long-term resident of Albanian origin of his British Citizenship by way of lengthy proceedings before the Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber.
