Bates Wells as a B Corp

We’re incredibly proud to be one of a growing community of B Corps in the world, and the first law firm in the UK to achieve certification.

The B Corp community reminds us that our everyday decisions can create impact – from the soap we use to the food we order, to the paper we print on – and we look for suppliers that have a social purpose and an environmental agenda.

Not just any business can call itself a B Corp. To be certified by B Lab, you have to meet their rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. And to keep it, you have to be re-assessed every three years.

Among other things, you have to prove that you consider what impact your business decisions will have on your workers, customers, suppliers, community and the environment – not just your shareholders.

What does that mean for you?

It means you can be sure you are working with a firm that genuinely cares about people, society and the environment.

And if you’re interested in your organisation becoming a B Corp, we can guide you through the whole process. As well having first-hand experience to draw on, we also helped to create the UK legal test for certification.
