We held our first firm wide climate-focused hackathon as part of B Lab’s Boardroom 2030 campaign. We chose to look at Boardroom 2030 through a climate-lens and held a preliminary panel discussion a fortnight before.

At the panel event, chaired by B Lab’s Charmian Love, we asked an activist, an environmental think tank policy director and a lawyer to consider how they thought we should use our legal expertise and influence to help drive the change we need to see in our social and economic system to get to net zero fairly.

We then used this Boardroom 2030 hackathon to mine our people’s insights, expertise and moreover ideas on:

  • What we as a law firm can do to drive the change we need to see;
  • Whether we have the right governance in place to deliver this change; and
  • What we can each do in our own roles within the firm to support this.

The event was facilitated by Charlotte Sewell, strategic advisor to B Global Climate Taskforce and both our Managing Partner and COO attended.

One of our declared actions when we formally recognised the climate emergency in September 2019 was to embed the climate emergency into our firm-wide strategy and we will share our proposed actions going forward.

We hope that other businesses will join us on this mission as together we know through collaboration we can achieve more.
