With disruption continuing to adversely impact many charities, Lawrie Simanowitz spoke to Tristan Blythe, Editor of Charity Finance, on the trends he is seeing across the sector.

In light of the unprecedented situation in which charities find themselves, Lawrie gave his views on how this crisis has affected the ability of charities to raise funds and how organisations’ day-to-day operations are impacted.

Among other points raised Lawrie states the following:

  • That the charity sector is facing a “triple whammy” due to a “severe financial restriction”, the “increased demands for their services”, and a shortfall in volunteering.
  • How, with respect to fundraising, some “grantmakers” are starting to “step up” and are relaxing their rules.
  • That a number of charities have been seeking advice over the cancellation of AGMs, along with other crucial discussions such as board meetings.
