Paul Seath, partner in our employment team, has provided legal insights to Charity Finance for a feature focusing on workplace bullying and how charities can put in place effective policies to address and prevent it.
Charity Finance’s article follows the publication of ACEVO’s In Plain Sight report, which examines the presence of bullying across the sector and how staff at charities of all shapes and sizes view this issue.
Citing growing awareness of this topic at many charities, Paul argues that many organisations now seek to “engender a ‘speak-up’ culture” within their workforce.
Paul also offers his views on how training can be used as a way of ensuring managers are properly equipped to have difficult conversations with staff, and touches on how employers are legally obliged by the Employment Rights Act to ensure employees are given information on “where to find policies, including a grievance policy, and who to raise a grievance with”.
