I’m an Associate in the Immigration department at Bates Wells. I advise on both corporate and personal immigration matters as well as on nationality law, an area of particular interest to me. My recent experience includes advising individuals in relation to applications to remain in the UK on the basis of private life and on discretionary grounds; family-based applications to come to the UK; and naturalisation and registration as a British citizen.
I have also recently advised a number of corporate clients in relation to right-to-work issues and applications for skilled workers to remain in the UK as sponsored employees and am assisting with a number of pro bono matters including an application for refugee family reunion.
During my time as a trainee in the Immigration department I assisted fee earners across the team with matters including applications under Tier 2 and Tier 5 of the points-based-system; Global Talent; Appendix FM; the domestic worker rules; applications outside the immigration rules; and several appeals that raised important Human Rights issues. I also gained experience as an immigration paralegal prior to undertaking my legal studies.
As well as my seat in Immigration, I completed seats in Bates Wells’ Charity and Social Enterprise, Public & Regulatory and Dispute Resolution departments as part of my training contract.
