I’m a Solicitor in the Charity and Social Enterprise team. I advise charities and not for profits on matters including establishment, structuring, governance, overseas operations, and regulatory compliance. Before training and qualifying as a Solicitor, I spent over ten years working in media and communications in the non profit sector.
- I advise on the formation and registration of new charities and social enterprises, including CLGs, CIOs and CICs. I have particular experience supporting organisations that operate in jurisdictions considered high risk by the Charity Commission and regularly handle complex registrations in this context.
- I advise on a range of transactions, including charity mergers and spin outs. My experience includes advising on a three way charity merger, the spin out of a successful US based project into newly established UK and EU sister entities, and the spin out of a well known gallery space into an existing charity adapted to host it.
- I work closely with counsel in other jurisdictions to provide clients with coordinated, comprehensive advice on international structuring and local law requirements.
- I advise on a wide range of contractual agreements including collaboration agreements, contracts for services and grant agreements.
- I advise charities and non-profits on constitutional and day to day operational matters, including drafting bespoke policies covering a wide range of issues and navigating and implementing changes to their governing documents where needed.
