Faith-based Organisations

Helping you uphold your values while satisfying the law.

We know every decision you make is grounded in your faith.  We help you maintain that, so you can uphold your values while staying compliant with the law. Our advice is sensitive and practical.

Many of our team have personal links with the faith communities we advise. That shapes our advice and means we understand your priorities.

As the UK’s leading charity law firm, we advise charities and places of worship linked to many faiths. They include several different Christian denominations, as well as Hindu, Muslim, Jewish and Buddhist communities, along with interfaith and umbrella organisations.

How we help

We’re charity specialists, so we understand the challenges you face – from demonstrating public benefit to the Charity Commission, through to the employment law around volunteers. We help with immigration, including visas and helping families returning from service abroad. We advise on real estate, including buying, selling and using it to finance new ventures – all while complying with charity law.

We advise on establishing and registering faith-based charities, as well as their governance and constitutions, internal disputes, fundraising and financing, mergers and reorganisations, tax planning and VAT, property and places of worship, reputation management and media relations, and safeguarding vulnerable beneficiaries.

We help with regulatory compliance cases launched by HMRC and the Charity Commission. Our disputes team regularly help resolve seemingly intractable disputes, from internal governance and membership issues to disputes with suppliers and other third parties. Also, for faith-based organisations that cross borders, we help set up international structures.
