Our firm is made up of brilliant people. Each of us is unique, whether in terms of our background, personal characteristics, experience, skills or motivations. And we value our people for the differences they each bring. These differences – this diversity – is a powerful asset for the firm.
Our Commitment to EDI
Fostering an inclusive culture helps each of us to benefit from a wide range of perspectives, experiences and skills. We believe that this creates a happier, more productive working environment. We also think it’s the right thing to do to make our society a more equal place.
We believe that a culture, in which equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are celebrated, not only benefits our firm but supports wellbeing and enables our people to work better because they can be themselves and feel that they belong.
We have an EDI strategy which sets out our key objectives and actions for the future. We developed the strategy after a year of consultation with people across the firm, hearing about what was important to them and using lots of data to inform our plans. Specifically, we consulted with marginalized groups in the firm. Our commitments to EDI are a firmwide strategic priority and are therefore approved by the Management Board who have ultimate accountability for our progress.
You can see our strategy, actions and commitments in our annual Equity Pay reports. You can find out more by clicking here.
Holding ourselves to account
Our Diversity & Inclusion Forum (DIF), led by Tim Barnden (Partner, Immigration) & Scott Sullivan (HR Director), brings together the elements which make for a diverse and inclusive culture.
DIF acts as an umbrella, under which our groups and networks can flourish. Our groups and networks are led by ambassadors, who play a key role in fostering enthusiasm and creativity. Each of our DIF groups and networks is a true cross-section of the firm, with members from across all practice areas and business teams, with initiatives created by members, whoever they may be and no matter how junior, to make the world a better place. The activities of our groups and networks are interwoven into the firm, across our governance, strategy and policies, to achieve a coordinated approach across our inclusion networks.
